Aylett Pen Pic CowWelcome

About me??

I am from Melrose in the Scottish Borders, Neither of my parents farm despite my grandfather being a farmer.  I was fortunate at the mould able age of 11 to meet a farming family, I was asked to help water & feed sheep at lambing & was quickly bitten by the farming bug and spent every waking possible moment on the farm and worked my way up.  Fast forward a bit I went to Agricultural college and studied an HND in Agriculture.

Many years later I met my now husband Stuart, he came with a farm which was quite a coo as most men only come with a car or a stinky man cave.  We hit it off very quickly and it was like we had known each other for years same can do attitude & passions for life, he’s a bit of a keeper but don’t tell him that! We are fortunate to have 2 fantastic kids I call them my F’ing boys as they are called Fergus & Fraser.

I have a very can do attitude, if you want to do something just get on and do it, if there is a road block in the way go around, find another way sometimes the diversion is a good thing.  Ask questions, google stuff, be empowered!

To date:

We farm a mainly Dairy farm with 140 milking cows in 2 Lely Astronaut A3 Next Robots.  We also have 600 breeding ewes, 20 beef cows and a couple of pigs. In 2015 the milk price went through another major dip so we decided it was time to put a plan into action that had been over 12 years in the thought process, we started up Roan’s Dairy , along with Stuart’s younger brother Steven and his wife Tracey.

I hope to over this blog keep you hooked on wanting to know more, i will share whats happening on the farm, the milk business & me.  I will also go back and tell you why & how this has all come about.

Thank you

A x
