The Udder Bar has wheels!

The Udder bar was an idea created out of necessity.  Tracey (my sister in law) and I noticed very quickly that selling milk at Farmers markets was a slow, cold job and we needed something to create a draw to us, as our sparkling personalities were just not cutting it.  In April 2016 we had an open day at the Farm, we did a milkshake bar at that as a one off, 6 food blenders later (totally burnt out due to over use) we were sold out!!  We had an unprecedented 850+ people come to the farm that day.  Obviously as this had been so successful we decided to take it on the road.  We use the Udder bar to help promote our milk and interact with our potential new customers along with established ones.

Mrs Moo comes along to to help with PR. When it is a wet dreary day Mrs Moo pops out and has a walk round  or will get involved in a charity event, she has even got her groove on in the mosh pit and had a shot on the Ferris wheel at Electric Fields.  Mrs Moo has tried making milk shakes but hoovies are not really designed for that!  She gets about and in fact is up for most challenges, she can get in a spot of bother!

I would describe Mrs Moo as the Stig’s bovine cousin ☺☺☺☺

Mrs Moo did the Push Up Challenge with the 6 Scots Royal Regiment of Scotland at the Galloway Country Fair, delivers milk and with all the antics the Police came calling!!

Early on in 2016 when we were just starting out, we went WEST!! This was us at Stranraer Show (see header pic).  It was an especially windy day and there was no shelter around us.  As the day went on the wind got up.  Tracey and I spent most of the time holding the gazebo down, then it happened, a massive gust of wind and the gazebo was off the ground.  I pounced into action hanging from the gazebo to pin it down while Tracey shot off across the show field to get help.  While I hung on looking at the Irish Sea thinking that looks cold, trying not to panic, Tracey like an emergency service (not sure what emergency service provides men & straps? maybe 666?!?!) appeared back with a couple of men, straps & pegs.  No ordinary person can do that, it takes a certain Je ne sais pas.  After a couple of mins we were all strapped down and ready to carry on, as a not so lucky gazebo from the stock lines took off in the direction of Ireland!!  After this we invested in a tie down kit and decided not to return to the West for a while.

After every show we look to make changes & tweak and improve our set up (as above).  We normally  only roll out with the 2 of us and it is quite time consuming.  The packing, then set up, packing up again and unloading, takes time & trust me we don’t travel light!  We have made all the improvements we can but just couldn’t sort that, so after long talks, thought and dreams we decided a horsebox could be the way forward.  They are all over the place now as Gin Bars, Prosecco Bars & Coffee bars so why not a Milkshake Bar??

In February all the stars aligned and we heard of a horsebox for sale locally, we popped in to take a look.  It had a sound chassis and new breaks.  We bought it!

I know what you are thinking, she is a thing of beauty!

Just wait till we get her home.

Once home we set about stripping her out and making plans, I may have lost a few hours to Pinterest and Instagram.  I do not have a specific skill set, maybe 2 generic ones which are having way too many ideas and just getting a job done, any job doesn’t matter, if it needs done i will do.  Now i don’t want to talk for Tracey but one of her skill sets is creative and can make great visual designs come to life. We work with a fab Graphic Designer Cheryl @ CD Design .

With a plan and a design in place we have made a start, but that is where I am leaving this.  I am not wanting to give away too much as we want it to be a surprise and the business is first to unveil.  Que the A team theme ( If you don’t know what i mean by this ask your parents or just be ashamed)!

The picture above has been stolen from Tracey’s Instagram feed as I don’t do anything interesting to my pics ☺

I will let you know when she is ready and I will update this post.
